Dettifoss – Is considered to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe, and located in Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland. Situated on the Glacier Jökulsá á Fjöllum river and is considered to be the largest waterfall in terms of volume discharge. The distance from the capital is 572 km and not far from Husavik that is 92 km. The river is cut at an angle so the scenic experience is quite amazing and different depending on which side the waterfall is viewed from. A marked trail leads from Dettifoss up to Selfoss is also a place that one should not miss. The area of Dettifoss, Selfoss and Hafragilsfoss on the east side of the river was now announced as the national monument in 1996.
