Devetashkata Cave – A cave located near the village of Devetaki and on the right shore of river Osam. The cave is the Biggest Cave of Bulgaria. It was discovered in 1921. The cave length is about 2.5 km. The cave’s entrance is at a height of 35 m. Archeologists have proved that the cave was first occupied in the late Paleolithic era and served as a home for local inhabitants in the Neolith, eneolith, bronze, and iron eras and in the middle Ages. Currently, the cave is officially declared as a monument of culture and a protected natural landmark of national and international worth.
