Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain National Park is located in the city center of Zhang Jia Jie, China. The mountain has a highest peak of 1518.6 meters above sea level. The mountain is named after the natural enormous cave half way up the mountain just like a gate to the heaven, therefore, the name Heavenly Gate Mountain (Tianmen Mountain/天门山). The park integrates amazing geomorphology landscapes, old-line religious culture, and unique relics of humanity, wild animals, and primitive forests. The park has a very high standing among the tourists for some of its great attractions, like the Tianmen Mountain Cableway, Tongtian Avenue (Avenue toward Heaven), Tianmen Cave (Heaven Gate), Tianmen Temple, Tianmen Academy, Ghost-valley plank road, and Yunmeng Fairy Summit etc. With deep cultural background, Tianmen Mountain is always considered as the holy mountain by locals. A 500-year-old Buddhist temple is snuggled in the mountain appealing thousands of prayers every year.
The forest has also unique rails of the pathway which are made up of glass, offering walkers a vertigo-inducing look at the pure drops and wilderness below. The path spans three feet wide, composed of glass 2.5-inches thick. Measuring approximately 200 feet (61 meters) long, the walkway is high almost a mile into the air at about 4700 feet (1430 meters). The passage links the west cliff at the yunmeng fairy summit, where tianmen mountain and zhang jiajie meet.
