This romantic Thornewood Castle located in Lakewood area of Washington, United States. This superb three story mansion home was built by Chester Thorne, one of the creators of the Port of Tacoma. The castle took almost four years to complete, the 27,000 square foot mansion was finally completed in 1911. The art and sheer magnitude of the furnishings was remarkable.
The Castle was designed by famous architect, Kirkland Cutter, the crystal windows were made in England. The English Tudor/supernatural mansion, having 54 rooms, including 28 bedrooms and 22 baths, is one of the rare genuine private castles in the United States.
When you visit do explore all the rooms and levels of the home – as long as the door was open. The woodwork, decorations, furnishing and artwork was great. At outside, there was access to a private wharf at the edge of American Lake. The gardens were worth looking at. There are photos of the different movies that have been shot at Thornewood Castle. The bedrooms were huge. The place is so quiet, no strange noises to be heard. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding, or a large family getaway, such as family Christmas.
