Göreme Valley amongst the fairy chimney is a rock formation located in a town of Cappadocia, Turkey. It is situated in central Anatolia. The population of the valley is only around 2,500 and amongst one of the smallest town of Turkey. The valley was previously known as Korama, Maccan and Avcilar. The name was given after many tourists started visiting here. Later on it become the major tourist destination of Cappadocia. Its national park named “Goreme National Park” was added by UNESCO in world heritage list.
The valley was first populated by Christians during the Roman period. The churches made in the rocks at that time are still present and can be seen while you’re visiting. The main churches are Apple Church, Yousuf kuk church and Durmus Kadir church. The valley has many hotels, so you can stay there without prior booking.
The valley contains fairy chimneys with rocky cave houses. The residents tried their best to keep the beauty of the place. The residents also made one charity organization named “Göreme Charity Restoration Fund” to maintain the beauty of the valley. The organization takes donation as well as takes voluntary work to maintain the beauty for the tourists. The valley is filled with cave houses.
