The geological events can be spontaneous. They can happen without any apparent reason; one such recent event took place in Southern California where the Vasquez Canyon Road started crumbling. The process started on 10th of November 2015 and is still going on. The connecting points Lost Creek Rd and Vasquez Way have been blocked.
Vasquez Canyon Road has become a point of interest for geologists, scientists and researchers other than the local public who have been horrified and amazed by the transition of a smooth road into a crumpled one. As said, this geological event has opened a new dimension in geology which needs reasoning.
The phenomena started with appearance of cracks in 60 meters Vasquez Canyon Road stretch. Only in few hours a part of road disintegrated and buckled up to a height of 4.5 meters. There were no signs of any geological activity before. Most of the scientists have ruled out the two possibilities i.e. earthquake or a rainstorm. Its maintenance will require heavy expenditure.
Somewhat the most appropriate explanation for the crumbled Vasquez Canyon Road is that it might have occurred due to the land-sliding which is happening in the hills, located close to the road area. The road has been closed and running traffic has been interrupted by this unexpected event.
For researchers Vasquez Road presents an opportunity to embark knowledge about the geological events. Several teachers took their classes to the spot. When compared to this latest earth buckling, most of the geological events take place over millions of years. If you are in California and want to witness such a geological happening visit the Vasquez Road.
