ICEHOTEL is built from ice from Torne River or more specifically from “snice” which is a mixture of ice and water. Ice Hotel is also built close to Torne River. The construction of this beautiful art craft starts every November and is mostly ready by December. Every year a particular theme is selected to build ICEHOTEL. Artists from all across the Europe are invited to design ICEHOTEL according to the particular selected theme.
In Sweden, ICEHOTEL has rooms with temperature that ranges from -5 to -8 degrees Celsius. There is also a warm section that is built as a part of ice section for guests who want to enjoy the calmness of Jukkasjarvi village and cannot bear too much cold temperature. Thermal sleeping bags are provided to guests of ICEHOTEL and they are advised to keep warm clothes on while sleeping.
